Short to medium walks, nearly always on footpaths away from busy roads – by rivers, canals, parks and woods. Hopefully there are also places of interest to point out en route. The pace is also very gentle.

when: Thursday 26th March
where: Meet at London Bridge Network Rail Ticket Office by 10.30am to catch Train to Crayford at 10.40am (arrives 11.11am) Free with Freedom Pass
what: We will have short walk to Hall Place, visiting the recently refurbished 1537 Manor House. The Gardens hopefully will have extensive daffodils in bloom and clipped Yews Queens Beasts. And have lunch there. The Manor House & Gardens are free entrance.
Afterwards we will walk along a wooded path to Old Bexley (Drop off point) and the attractive river walk called Foots Cray Meadow. Then tea and short bus ride to Sidcup Station for home.
when: Thursday 30th April
where: Meet at Wanstead Tube Station on Central Line by 10.45am
what: We will then walk to Wanstead Park. We will take a walk around the Ornamental Waters and see bluebells in the woods. There will be a light lunch at the Tea Hut. Afterwards we will walk to other end of the park (drop off point), then Bush Wood to Leytonstone, have tea and then home.

I would like to join the Walking Group, but I am not a member of Hackney U3a although I am membe rof another U3A group.
Would it be possible to turn up for a walk and then join Hackney U3A subsequently?
Dear Mrs Brady, sorry for taking so long in replying to your question. You would be very welcome to join us. Our next walk is being held in August:
when: Thursday 13th August
where: 10.30am meet at bus stop to Aldgate Bus Station, buses 67 and 254 from Hackney.
what: Walk pass The Tower, cross Tower Bridge and walk on Southbank to Waterloo Bridge. On route will pass City Hall, Southwark Cathedral, The Globe and Tate Modern. Lunch at Somerset House. Afterwards we will go through Inns of Court at Temple and Lincolns Inn as well as passing Dr Johnson’s house. We will finish at Lincolns Inn Fields.
